Welcome to our Web Site

The site is mostly about our travels since we retired in 1997. For now you can see the details of our 1997 to 2002 sailing odyssey in Alcyone from Seattle to Florida via the Panama Canal, our 2004 and 2006 trips to Mexico, and the photos and Travel E-mails from the 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 trips on our boat Fiesta on the canals of the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

There is also some information about us, where we live and how to contact us, and some links to sites that have more information, mostly about canal cruising in Europe. Use the links at the top of the left column for all the details.

It has been some time since I updated this site. I have added a new section for Patricia to display some of her art work - I will try to keep it up to date.

We sold our European river and canal boat at the end of 2007 and in April 2008 we purchased a Winnebago Itasca Navion RV. It is 25 feet long and built on the Mercedes Sprinter Van chassis with a 6 cylinder diesel engine. We used it part of every month through October. This year (2009) we left on an extended trip at the end of March. We wandered from Seattle to Chicago via South East Oregon, Death Valley, Las Vegas, and Route 66 through Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. We took side trips to Santa Fe and Taos, Independence and Kansas City, and Hannibal. After two weeks in Chicago we visited our friends Sven and Madeleine who now live about 35 miles north of Chicago and whom we met during our travels in France. From Chicago we took scenic back roads to the Badlands of South Dakota and Yellowstone Park in Wyoming. From there it was I90 back to Seattle with a stop in Post Falls to visit Patricia's Aunt Margaret. A great trip, 8280 miles in 3 months.

I would like to post some photos of our last year in France in Provence and along the Canal du Midi - it was such an enjoyable and interesting journey. We saw some spectacular scenery on our RV trips in 2008 and I hope to post some of those photos also. And then there are 3000 photos of our Chicago trip to sort. My father had an aphorism for everything and two appropriate ones are "Procrastination is the thief of time" and "The road to hell is paved with good intentions". Words to live by indeed.
